Lorenza Bernasconi Moser is the only female CEO at the helm of a major security group in Switzerland, but her age is the least interesting. What's striking is her ability to anticipate changes, integrate innovation and responsibility, and transform a family business into an advanced ecosystem. For her, security isn't about control. It's about well-designed freedom.
You're the only woman leading a security group in Switzerland. What does that mean?
"At the beginning, it meant having to prove myself more than others. The sector was highly verticalized, and legitimacy wasn't automatic. I wasn't always perceived as a decision maker, but as "the daughter of" or "the sister of." Over the years, I built the I have developed my own style, based on listening even to silence, clear communication, and firm decisions when necessary. Furthermore, vulnerability, if well managed, doesn't weaken but strengthens. Security isn't a gender issue. It's culture, rigor, responsibility, and the ability to accept the consequences of one's choices."
Lorenza, safety is a sensitive topic. What principles are essential for those who work? for your company?
I believe that discipline—not in the sense of rigidity, but rather of daily consistency—is an essential value. In our industry, error isn't a theoretical option, but a real risk. Therefore, precision, ethical standards, and clarity are required. And then there's awareness: we don't sell systems, we sell peace of mind. This changes everything, because every gesture counts when we're talking about protection, prevention, and responsibility. Working in the complex world of security isn't just a job, it's a mission. It takes enthusiasm—true, heartfelt enthusiasm.
When you hire, what characteristics are essential?
I'm looking for reliability and authenticity. People who understand the weight of responsibility. Technical skills are developed, integrity isn't. You can tell right away if someone truly feels the value of what they do. In this industry, you can't just "play" a role; you have to believe in it.
You have around 150 employees: how do you maintain high motivation and ethical standards?
"With a systemic vision, always sharing the strategic framework: employees must understand where we're going, not just what they have to do tomorrow morning. Trust is built with transparency, but also with rigor. I listen a lot because I want to make sure people understand the reasons behind the choices, not just the "what." Then it becomes important to communicate and share goals, difficulties, and mistakes. When employees feel involved, they become part of the solution. And then there's growth: continuous training, discussion, and accountability. Instilling trust is one of the most powerful ways to generate trust."
And how does she convey security, first to the his collaborators and then to customers?
"Explaining and explaining our Group vision allows us to be clearly understood by our stakeholders and is certainly a first step. Then there's the professionalism that isn't invented but is built through experience, curiosity, and the ability to seek out new technologies and solutions to implement them within the company in a structured and calibrated way. Technology isn't an end in itself; it must be transformed into a service, into valuable solutions for those who choose us."
Security Group has almost fifty'years. What do you remember of the'company when it was small, and how do you see it today?
«Security Group was born from the vision of our father, who built a solid company in an era when security primarily meant physical protection. He taught us that reputation is the first protection system. That a given word is worth more than any contract, and that visions, when contextualized with method, rigor, and hard work, transform a company. We have taken that ethical foundation and projected it into a completely new strategic and technological dimension, allowing our Group to undergo significant evolution. When I took my first steps in this world in the early 2000s, Gruppo Sicurezza had about 15 employees: it was still a very "family-run" company. With my brothers Michele and Mattia We asked a key question: do we want to grow or do we want to evolve? We chose to evolve. It was clear to us from the beginning that we wanted to grow not only in numbers, but in quality, structure, and use of the most advanced technologies in the industry. We then developed a strategic plan, invested in targeted acquisitions, and structured governance and processes. Today, 25 years later, with planning, we have transformed ourselves into an integrated security ecosystem, achieving our dream.
What does this mean in concrete terms? "integrated security"?
"Offering everything related to security under a single ecosystem with comprehensive solutions: from design to mechanical and electronic security, from 24/24 operations center services to surveillance, and even cybersecurity activities. This wasn't a random growth, but a strategic choice. Integration is a fundamental key."
How have your and your brothers' roles evolved over time?
Family trust is an essential asset and, as such, must be carefully preserved and protected. Over time, we have learned to clearly distinguish roles and responsibilities, and today we assume operational leadership roles in the various Group companies. At the same time, we hold positions on the holding company's Board of Directors, helping to strengthen governance by defining the best strategies for achieving shared goals. In this context, method and structure—along with clearly defined skills and responsibilities—are essential elements. It is precisely this balance between trust, clear roles, and strategic vision that has formed the solid foundation of our journey.
Working with the brothers è special, but I imagine not always simple. Which è your balance?
In the family, trust is an extraordinary asset, but precisely for this reason it must be managed with great care: it takes very little to undermine it, with repercussions both personally and professionally. Among siblings, we have chosen an approach marked by the utmost professionalism: frank discussions, based on objective arguments and strict respect for roles. Because family ties remain a value, but in the workplace, responsibility, expertise, and clarity of roles matter. In the family, you're a sister; at work, you're a responsibility.
Did you always know you would work in the company?
My entry into the family business happened almost by chance. I knew my father worked in the industry, but at eighteen, like many other students, I left Ticino to move to Lausanne. After graduating, I chose to build my career in the region, working and training for about ten years. Truth be told, the idea of returning to Ticino was the last thing on my list of priorities.
What route had he taken?
I studied Social and Political Sciences at the University of Lausanne, then pursued a career in human resources. Then, after acquiring a new company, my father asked me for my opinion on the reorganization of the entire Group. It was a limited assignment, "just for a few months," to bring order, define processes, and clarify roles. That temporary project turned into a long-term entrepreneurial challenge. More than twenty-five years have passed—and, in hindsight, I'm still working on that reorganization.
Many systems today are powered by home automation. How do you see the future, even with the'artificial intelligence?
We are undergoing a genuine paradigm shift: the future is no longer a distant projection, but a dimension we already experience in the present, in each of our daily choices and habits. Artificial intelligence is radically transforming the way we interpret reality. Systems no longer simply record data: they analyze it, correlate it, and interpret it. Sensors don't just measure, they understand, anticipate, and suggest. This means moving from a reactive to a predictive logic. We no longer intervene only after an event has occurred, but we are able to predict it, prepare for it, and manage it. Security is becoming a solution "as a service": scalable, personalized, and activated when needed. Cybersecurity and the protection of digital data will be the major themes of the coming decades; digitalization has opened new frontiers and accelerated our vision of the world. The integration of the physical and the digital is now irreversible. It is a profound transformation, requiring skills, method, and responsibility. Because when technology begins to “interpret”, the real difference is made by the vision with which we choose to guide it."
A personal question: do you feel safe in Ticino?? And she would feel safe even without devices?
In Ticino, I've always felt protected: here, security isn't just an abstract concept, but a truly strategic asset to be protected. The devices we install complete this cycle, offering protection and peace of mind in everyday life. Security thus becomes a fundamental need, on a par with love or happiness. Because when we feel truly safe, we are happier, freer, and more at peace.
Switzerland è aligned with other countries on the issue of security?
Switzerland aligns itself with the best international practices, thanks to an integrated approach that combines prevention, advanced infrastructure, and cooperation with foreign partners. While maintaining a particular focus on neutrality and data protection, the country guarantees high security standards, demonstrating that effectiveness and responsibility can coexist harmoniously.
What services require moreù private individuals?
Among the services most requested by private individuals are video surveillance and electronic security systems. These tools do more than just record: they prevent, analyze, and detect anomalies, reporting any suspicious or non-compliant events in real time. Location-tracking devices, designed not to monitor, but to protect, are also growing in popularity. They enable timely intervention in critical situations, offering families peace of mind and the certainty of living in a safe environment.
As a you can stay keeping up with ever-changing technologies?
"With curiosity, through the cooperation of international partners, and time dedicated to attending industry conferences to better understand global trends. The geography of innovation has changed, and today markets like Asia are driving technological development. We must observe, anticipate, and integrate."
And how do you balance so much technology with the human side?
"Technology executes, collects data, and prevents. But interpretation and decision-making remain human. Technology is a tool; people are the guide."
Your work è I continue. His phone è always on?
«My phone was turned on for 25 years. Today, he rarely rings after hours. Not because the sector is less complex, but because we've built structure, flows, and distributed responsibilities. A leader must build a system that works even without him, to avoid becoming indispensable.
What do you like most?ù of his work?
"Identifying new technologies and applying them to products or services that support our users 24/24. Staying up-to-date on new trends and investing quality time in networking with international colleagues and professionals."
È also born a'concrete initiative for Ticino, IDEAS THAT ARE VALID. Where does it come from?
After overcoming the pandemic, we felt a strong need to rebuild true connections and support our local community, which had suffered particularly from the situation. The project was born from an initiative by our collaborators, who promoted an ideas competition and defined the scope of action. They are the key players in implementing the proposed activities, supporting associations and foundations active in social, cultural, educational, and sports fields. offering hours of volunteering, operational and financial support."
And how does volunteering work?
Volunteer activities are carried out both during and after work hours, depending on the requests of our partners. This is part of our welfare plan, strengthening the company culture; in fact, the feedback from those who actively participate is of great value and importance in terms of values and awareness.
Let's change the subject again: quando enters a new place, look at security right away?
"My eye inevitably identifies the safety measures in place, such as fire detection, escape routes, video surveillance systems, and the presence of security personnel. It's automatic."
When it is not atat work, what makes you feel good?
In my spare time, I engage in activities that allow me to find the balance needed to give my best. I enjoy various sports and immerse myself in nature to recharge from my work life. I especially love the mountains in all seasons: they teach me respect for risk, contextual analysis, and planning. I love cycling; I'm constantly surprised by my shifting perspective on the world. It's an experience lived at a slower pace, and I often find myself thinking that it's not the initial sprint that wins, but rather consistency that wins. Finally, I have an infinite affinity for the art world: I organize exhibitions, and I'm deeply interested in the cultural dialogue between art and society, reminding myself that protecting means allowing. Without security, there is no freedom to create, to live, to express oneself.
Which è was that his strong point?
"I believe my ability to listen and communicate, even in difficult times, has allowed me to lead such a complex sector with strategic intelligence and cultural discipline. Simply recounting successes isn't enough. I've learned to value and understand silences, to recount not only extraordinary results, but also to contextualize difficulties and failures: vulnerability, if managed intelligently, builds trust. I try not to play the role of CEO, but to structure it. I consider myself visionary, methodical, and able to think outside the box with profound rigor."
How do you see Gruppo Sicurezza in 10 years?
"My brothers and I are planning a national presence for our Group with even stronger governance. We are also thinking very clearly about succession. Companies only thrive if continuity is planned."
And in 30 years?
Security will be invisible, integrated, almost imperceptible. The great challenge will be protecting digital identity and individual freedom in a hyperconnected world. I'm an optimist, but optimism must be organized.
Ultimately, this is the very heart of Lorenza Bernasconi Moser's vision: to make security a discreet presence, one that doesn't limit, but liberates. Her leadership demonstrates how rigor, method, and sensitivity can coexist and guide an entire sector toward a new maturity. And this is precisely the most advanced form of protection.
