Denner does not have an online shopping system. The Internet shop, as the press officer Thomas Kaderli explains, is linked only to wines. Francesca Destefani, Coop spokesperson for the Ticino sales region, says that the demand on the Coop.ch portal doubled during the lockdown: "As we expect further growth in this sector in the long term, we launched the new Coop.ch omnichannel platform. We are happy to be able to offer this service also in Italian ».

“As customer demand has been very good, we will continue to offer food on manor.ch. This is also a way to differentiate ourselves from the competition ”, is Manor's strategy, illustrated to us by communications chief Sofia Conraths.

For no one, however, online sales can be an alternative to the traditional one, rather something more. “We see our range of colonial online products as an addition to the offer of the Manor Food supermarkets,” explains Conraths. Of the same opinion Destefani: «The online purchase of groceries is not in opposition to the“ physical ”shopping in the store, on the contrary, it supplements it. With Coop.ch and our extensive network of sales outlets, we offer our customers a high level of service and the possibility of choosing between multiple options ».

Now that the borders have reopened, has there been a return of buyers to Italy? “The lockdown with the consequent closure of the borders has impressively demonstrated the importance of a functioning internal trade. It is therefore desirable that the broad solidarity with Switzerland as a workplace continues after the crisis, ”Kaderli hopes. «We continue to see a greater turnout in your sales. It would be gratifying to have convinced new customers over the last few months to come back to us, both thanks to the capillarity of our stores, close to the customer as they are scattered throughout the canton, and to the wide range of foods in our assortment, which stands out for quality and freshness », adds Destefani. Conraths echoes them: «Shopping tourism has returned to growth since the reopening of borders. However, we are convinced that during the lockdown, customers saw the importance of supporting the local and national economy. We have acquired many new customers through our online store, but also thanks to our delivery service that we had organized during the Coronavirus ».

In Ticino, TIOR's home delivery service of fruit and vegetables, take home, experienced a real boom during the period of the health emergency. "During the lockdown, deliveries have become ten times as much, now they have decreased compared to April but they are certainly more than in the pre-Covid", the manager Denis Angelucci tells us: "We have not speculated on prices and the public has noticed it . I believe that the department stores are doing the same, the prices have dropped a bit ».
