The position opened in July, with Emanuele Carpanzano - current Director of the DTI - having been appointed Director of research, development and knowledge transfer at SUPSI.
The competition for this prestigious position attracted great interest, even beyond the canton's borders, demonstrating the positive image and attractiveness that SUPSI has today as an employer.
Professor Properzi was the most qualified candidate to conduct the DTI, demonstrating professional and academic authority, an excellent knowledge of Swiss universities of applied sciences, as well as a consolidated professional network with scientific-academic institutions, bodies and associations at national and international level. .
Milena Properzi demonstrates an approach oriented towards innovation and change, as well as an appreciable holistic outlook on technologies, with attention to interdisciplinary activities within the DTI and SUPSI more generally. Professor Properzi holds a degree from the University of Florence and a PhD in industrial science and technology from the University of Nancy. Before taking up her position within SUPSI, she was active in other Swiss universities, first at the Berner Fachhochschule and later at the Haute école de gestion Arc in Neuchâtel. Since 2018 she has been active in SUPSI as Research Manager within the DTI Management.
The SUPSI Department of Innovative Technologies carries out training and research activities in the fields of computer, electronic, mechanical and management engineering, with regular contacts with local companies and with the national and international scientific community. The DTI currently has 750 students and female students in basic training, about 1'000 participants in continuing training courses and 350 collaborators and collaborators. Within the Department there are also approximately 180 research projects and mandates active at the same time.
At the heart of the duties of the Director of the Department of Innovative Technologies is the management, coordination and supervision of all the activities that are part of the Department. In particular, it ensures the planning and management of available resources and constant monitoring of results, as well as the achievement of quality standards within the framework of the aims of SUPSI's institutional strategy.
It also handles relations with territorial partners in the various fields of reference, with the University of Italian Switzerland, with other professional universities and with other members of the national and international academic network.
Professor Properzi will succeed Emanuele Carpanzano from 1 May 2022. With this appointment, SUPSI will be able to count on an expert and qualified person who will be able to lead and develop the DTI at the service of the entire economy of our Canton.
