This result takes on even greater significance in light of a complex economic and geopolitical landscape, characterized by unstable markets, international tensions, and changing trade balances.
With 68% of professional visitors arriving from abroad, in line with the 2025 figure, the Show confirms its position not only as a reference trade fair but also as a global platform for networking, internationalization, and the development of new business opportunities.
An industrial ecosystem that looks to the future
For six days, Fiera Milano Rho was the meeting point for companies, buyers, investors, retailers, designers, contractors, and international media. The presence of over 1.900 exhibitors from 32 countries reflected the image of a dynamic sector, capable of adapting to change and meeting new market needs.
Of particular significance is the confirmation of two strategic sectors for the evolution of contemporary living: the International Bathroom Exhibition and EuroCucina, alongside FTK – Technology For the Kitchen. These sectors reflect changing lifestyles, technological integration, and the growing focus on functionality, sustainability, and industrial quality.
Geographies in transformation
On the international front, China remains the leading market in terms of number of operators present, despite a slight decline. Europe, on the other hand, shows signs of strong vitality: Germany consolidates its second position with a 5,1% growth, while Spain climbs to third place with an 8,7% increase.
Positive signs also came from Austria (+15,7%), Belgium (+7,3%), and Poland (+2,1%), while France remained largely stable. Outside Europe, the United States (+8,8%) and the United Kingdom (+10,4%) performed well, confirming a renewed interest in Italian design even in mature markets.
Canada (+28%) and Mexico (+15%) also saw strong growth, while high-potential areas such as Brazil and South Korea continue to strengthen. This picture highlights increasingly diversified and geographically distributed demand.
An ongoing international strategy
The results of the Salone del Mobile 2026 They are the result of an international presence built throughout the year. From initiatives at Expo Osaka 2025 to the three-year partnership with Art Basel Miami Beach and Hong Kong, through B2B missions to India, the United States, Canada, and China, the event has consolidated an increasingly complex global network.
Added to this is the debut of the first spin-off in Saudi Arabia and intense promotional activity in the main European hubs, including Paris, London, Berlin and Madrid.
Institutional recognition came with the appointment of the Salone del Mobile.Milano as Ambassador of Italian Design in the World, conferred by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. This designation reinforces the Salone's role as an instrument of economic and cultural diplomacy.
Design, culture and new perspectives
Alongside its commercial dimension, the Salone continues to invest in its cultural vocation. The 2026 edition marked the debut of Salone Raritas, with 28 galleries from 12 countries, opening a broader dialogue on the cultural value of design, including unique pieces, research, craftsmanship, and experimentation.
The future of international contract design is also receiving considerable attention, with the presentation of the Salone Contract 2027 masterplan designed by Rem Koolhaas and David Gianotten for OMA. This project aims to tap into a global market estimated at €68 billion, transcending traditional product-based thinking to embrace complex systems and integrated solutions.
The new generations at the centre
The Salone's role as a bridge between education, research, and industry is clearly evident from the numbers dedicated to young people. Over 14.000 students, both Italian and international, attended, while SaloneSatellite welcomed 700 designers under 35 from 39 countries.
This is an important signal for a sector that continues to invest in generational change and innovation as a competitive lever.
Milan, a widespread laboratory of the project
The event also confirmed its urban roots. In particular, the Common Archive – La Notte Bianca del Progetto project sold out, involving 19 institutions, including public and private archives.
Over 150 historic architecture and design collections have been made accessible to the public through more than 50 free guided tours and meetings, strengthening the bond between the city, its design heritage, and the international design community.
The media and digital impact
The echo of Salone del Mobile 2026 This was also reflected in the media coverage. There were 6.039 press and media visits, including 2.828 from abroad. In collaboration with ITA – Italian Trade Agency, 135 media outlets from 35 countries were hosted.

The growing attendance, the strengthening of foreign markets, the focus on young talent, and the expansion of cultural dialogue outline a model that continues to evolve without losing its identity.
The 65th edition is already scheduled for April 13-18, 2027. Milan is once again preparing to become the global hub of the project.
